This chaotic, frustrating, turn-the-world-on-its-head year is about to end. As you stand on the brink, are you looking ahead at the new year with hope or trepidation?
Part of my brand is spreading hope and encouragement rather than negativity or cynicism. Therefore as this year closes and another begins, I ask myself how I can bring peace, hope, and encouragement to my readers.
So I’ve created a list of questions to help you reflect on 2020. Some questions should help you clarify where you are today and how you feel about things. Others will bring to mind the good things that happened this year.
I hope these questions will help you make peace with 2020 and enter the new year with a positive mindset.
Fifteen questions to reflect over the past year and help you face the new year with hope and confidence.
1. What new technology have you mastered due to the pandemic?
2. Name a helpful concept you’ve learned this year. How has it improved your life?
3. What have you learned about yourself through these trials?
4. What has been the hardest for you to deal with?
5. How have you coped with it?
6. What is one thing you can change that will help you cope better in the new year?
7. List something you were forced to give up that you don’t miss. How does that make you feel?
8. List something you were forced to give up that you do miss. Why do you miss it?
9. What is something you enjoy that you’ve had more time for this year?
10. How have you seen God answering your prayers this year?
11. What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead?
12. What is one positive habit you’ve established or improved upon this year?
13. List ten things that could have gone a lot worse this past year.
14. List ten things that didn’t turn out as bad as you feared.
15. What are some plans you’ve accomplished despite the virus?
If you take time to ponder your answers to these questions, you’ll be able to readjust your focus to acknowledge the positives as well as the negatives of the past year. May these questions help you recognize your own resilience, and may they encourage you in the weeks ahead.
Happy new year, everyone.
